trompin

a good place to begin. dan's orchard is a lovely place any time of the year. yesterday was perfect.
i left the orchard on the south end and then hiked thru his woods and entered his neighbors land to the south.

after 40 minutes or so i reached the wyaconda. i had hoped the water would be low enough to expose a shelf that is perfect for walking.

and as you can see, it was.

until!!! 180 degrees around the horseshoe the walkway narrows slopes a bit to the water. i had not thought about the sun not reaching the ice and snow. nothing to do but turn around.
climbed up from here and continued my mission.

i left the woods to continue on around the field before entering again. got in a staring contest here.
you might remember this pond with the stand of sycamores. 5 large ones at the south end of the pond.
a few hundred feet after the pond i entered the woods again and followed a 4-wheeler path that gradually winds down and around.
then it suddenly drops to the river below. when my pack was full had to climb back up out of there.
oh yea...i am thinking this might be a sycamore sapling. will check it out after leafing.
