a few firsts

peppers are ready in the garden.

i picked my first zinnia from the garden last evening. a deep red, small-headed flower from an Oklahoma mix. it was placed in a small vase and looked very proud to be the center of Diane's dinner table.

during dinner preparations Heddi, Diane and i shared our first tomato of the season.

morels and wonderful salads for dinner. Patty had frozen some morels this spring to save for Heddi and Terry. Tasted as fresh as if they had just been gathered.

i brought a black bean dip with my sauteed scapes and other goodies.

Diane baked a cherry pie. i ate crust and all.

  4. i ended up putting the sauteed scapes in the black bean dip and the potato salad (2 different dinners). i wanted everything ready before i left the house. the other goodies went in the bean dip - cumin, jalapeno peppers, etc.

after lighting the charcoal for dinner tonight i walked to the mail box and found that i had been sent an article on garlic scapes, along with other goodies. i haven't read the article yet but did devour the other goodies! and again...
