happy trails to you until we meet again

Roy Rogers always ended his show back in the 50s with this song.
i took a happy trail yesterday. across the road from the sweetcorn stand is the state park. i hadn't visited it in quite some time. for the last few years it seems it has been flooded more oft than not. the park was once a sand quarry and the pits watered in to create a number of lakes. yesterday i opted for Sand Prairie trail. in years past i used it as my cool-down after a run on the longer trails around the lakes. i spent much more time there than i had planned. it was just beautiful. i took more than 150 shots of the praire flowers, birds, land and waterscapes. this morning it was just as rewarding reviewing the fotos - but way too hard to pick which to share. so i will leave you with this shot. the rest of them are just over that little rise......

  1. gigi, we walk into that which we cannot see...
I love 'seeing' your world daily thru your posts and pics: canoeing the stream, or strolling the paths you take over the landscape. your pictures and messages are so re-assuring. they touch me deeply. how did you find such wisdom and calm? wish I was there....

  3. larkspur - This might remain a mystery (and don't we all love a good mystery)? My "Missouri Wildflowers" book states ..."Flowers open in the morning and close by noon when the sun shines".
A great site is Missouriplants.com. click "all the plants on this site", scroll down to Tragopogon dubius and click. Much info and great pictures. Wikipedia also has a wealth of info, but the answer remains "just because".

i feel like the web is an ocean and i keep casting my "message in a bottle" into it. keep strolling these beaches and be sure to investigate any bottles you might find.

  5. gigi--Pink Floyd sings, 'wish you were here' and I always sing back, 'wish I was there'.
Keep casting your message bottle. I will always find it...
